refillable di housing question

I just got my stuff from AWI, and the refillable cartridge came with a thick white disc in the bottom of it thats removable. It has a center hole that can be removed. What the heck do i do with this thing, do i use it ??

fill the cartridge with as much of the resin that would still allow you to place that white disc on top. Then screw the lid back on. The resin should be slightly tight, not lose.

Fill the cartridge with the resin it should take the full resin package about three cups and two tablespoons. Take the center piece out of the foam piece and place the dounut on top of the resin and replace the cap, your set to go. If AWI didn't tell you your housing will not fill with water but this is nornal and everything is working, don't worry. If you have color changing resin it will seperate after a few uses, this is normal also and it is not half used up. Your color changing resin is at the top of the two layers.

Thanks for the time guys, makes sense now. Any tips on what to use to fill this di. I have a big bucket of resin i got from GS, and have yet to find a good way to transfer it from the bucket to the cartridge.

I use a 1/2 cup plastic scoop that I confiscated from the kitchen. You can also us an old plastic beer cup and squeeze the lip when pouring it into the cartridge.
Of course you could always use an old fashioned funnel

Hey guys here's a little heads up on DI resin keep it tightly sealed it is aggressive and will absorbe CO2 and reduce its shelf life greatly.

Derek:

Didn't get back in time to answer but not coming. Ringing bells for the Salvation Army with my fellow firefighters, we are there biggest fund raiser at Christmas time and they really need the help this year. Can't ride in the truck for more then a half hour because of nerve pain in leg and foot still.
