Powerhead Magnets?

Has anyone used these powerhead magnets? I absolutely hate the suction cups that maxi-jet provides?

http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_...rip_holder.asp

Does anyone have some good alternatives to the suction cups? If I have to right another Maxji Jet due to a suction cup failing I am goin to go wild LOL

I bought a load of "rare earth" magnets for less than that.
Check out this one (might actually be too big):
http://www.gaussboys.com/product_inf...products_id=21

2 bucks, baby!

If you go larger than this make sure your kids don't get them. They will smash their hands to bits playing with these things. I am thinking this and some sylicone will do the job.
The two reasons I have not tried modding these for the tanks is:

1) time
2) not sure what it would do to magnetic drive pumps.

Now, thats worth a... pizza... cough cough. haha

If this link works, take a look at this DIY magnet mod

I really need to build one of these for my MJ 1200.....Those posted in the other link are nice, but cost more than the powerhead!!

I like this alot. MJ suction cups are worthless.

I'm thinking of ordering some of the magnets. Anyone interested in ordering let me know and we can save a few bucks on the shipping.

all of the maxi jets in my big tank have been cable tied to old hagen powerhead mounts. It really works well. It is a good thing I never throw them out as I broke them over the years. Here is a picture of the mount on it's original powerhead.

if you take an old algae cleaner mag (or new cheap "twister") cut down the suction cup mounting bracket glue the tracks to the magnet you should have a simple mount that allows you to still salvage the powerhead if you hate the mount.
