Porcelain crab and RBTA

I just put a RBTA into my tank and my clowns have not noticed it yet (not a problem). but I was thinking... I have a porcelain crab that found it right away. Will the crab feed the anemone like the clowns or does it just hang out there for security?

Looked good when I left sat. morning. When I put it in the tank it was swept under a overhang. It doesn't have far to move it get light, and I figure it will when it want to. (Has to move across the rock it is on). The crab found it right away, but my new clown were trying to host the frogspawn. (hope they stop that asap!!)

What kind of clowns? I have F.Percs and they want nothing to do with my 3 anemones(2 RBTA/1 LTA). They'd rather have a designated frilly mushroom. On RC there is a thread in the Clownfish/Anemone section that has a sticky that explains the different types of clowns and their type of anemones, the F.Percs are not listed for the RBTA or LTA, but a Sebea and some others..

Well, are Ocellaris, but I just bought them from Jerry (plug) on friday, same day I go the RBTA from Smeese (plug). I figue it will take more than a day to pair up.--
On a side note, I did notice one of the two small clowns having a epileptic seizure (sign of pairing)- sweet.

I have had one of these crabs in my BTA now for many months. They are really cool, interesting crabs. I like to feed him a little mysis shrimp when I feed the rest of the fish. He just hangs out in the BTA. I have a clown that also hosts in there, and the clown does get protective of the BTA at times and will try to pull the crab out. The crab really doesn't feed the BTA anymore than the clown does in that sense.

It took my O's almost a year before they decided to host a rbta and the only time they do is late at night. If you have MH lighting you probably don't need to worry about feeding too much. Porcelin Crabs aren't going to feed the anemone at all IME.

Ocellaris & false perc is the same fish I think... not sure if that is clarified above.... however they will usually host an anenome over anything else no matter what type of anenome it is... however it can take up to a year at time if they have previously been hosting in something else. In Skips case there is a chance it may never host in the an anenome... might be too many hens in the hen house for the poor guy to choose

porcelains will host in just about any lta or bta. i moved my porcelains over from my green lta to the rbta's and they love it. awesome little crabs. its too bad the lrb treatment kills crabs. mine didnt fare too well. on a side note, my rbta dont split as often as it use to after putting the porcelain crabs in them. not sure why????

I noticed when I had one that the anemone very rarely expelled while the crab was around... might have something to do with it.
