Found some old post with it mentioned from otolith.... just want to make sure. I am going to plug a couple aiptasia holes before I move the rock to the 120.

What, you don't trust me?
Yes, it's fine. It'll make your skimmer go nuts if you use too much of it, so keep that in mind.

Derek, how long does it usually take for the effects on the skimmer to subside?

whoa!!!! wait a sec!!! It can't be just plain old PLumbers Putty. It needs to be the plumber putty epoxy. The regular plumbers putty will not ever get hard and bond to anything and make your skimmer continually go nuts for a long time. the stuff you want comes in a 1/2" tube and not a little cup or mini-bucket type thing.

Like Thomas said and Kevin posted. That's the right stuff. Makes the skimmer go crazy until it's all out of the water--so around 24hrs.

If your going to be taking the rock out of the tank you should try a blow torch to kill them. With the epoxy they could go inside the rock and come out a new hole.

That's a good idea, however I don't have a torch small enough! I have one that hooks up to a propane tank... little too big! I already put putty on them this morning and tried to cover some surrounding holes as well...... see if it works, I only had a couple.

Derek I talked to Scott about that and he made a point of the sediment that a propane torch can leave behind is maybe not so good for the water in your tank... if you can get access to a Hydrogen torch that would be ideal since it is oxygen and hydrogen (basically it leaves behind water )

although if you do not have access to a hydrogen torch... I myself may be willing to take the risk of a few deposits that will mostl ikely eventually cycle out of the system as opposed to having a never ending aptaisa problem. Just make sure you scrub the rock with a firm brush before putting it into a tank

Will M-80's work?

j/k,

If you only have it on a couple pieces of rock, I'd cook them, and add it back to the tank later. Aiptasia is nasty! I'd also get some peppermint shrimp to take care of any leftovers.

give it time I know I got 10 peps from jerry about 2 weeks a go and they started consumin some aptaisa. Just make sure you do not feed your tank for a while and you should start to seem some results. Remember our tanks are loaded with natural food for our fish... or at least somewhat mature tanks are and most fish can go 2 weeks without us feeding the tank and they will do okay. I would just feed once a week sparingly for a little while until you see the aptaisa dissappear.
