Painting an overflow

So I am in the build process of my 2.5 pico. I have drilled the bottom and cut the glass for the overflow box. Now I need to silicone it in place. I want to paint it before hand though.

My question is
1) What type of paint should I use that will be reef safe since it is going to be in full contact with the tank

2) Do I need to be carefull not to paint all the way to the edges or will the silicone be fine to adhere to the painted parts?

I am hoping to finish painting / siliconing today....so get to it...

what color? If you go purple you can just use the purple pipe primer. Once you get corraline coverage it should blend pretty darn well

I have heard of people coloring with a permanent marker like a sharpie. I have no clue just how safe or if I would even bother painting at all but it has been done before.

Krylon Fusion, can be purchased at Walmart, in black or blue. Safe for fishes, and would paint the overflow after installing, and just mask off tank edges except for overflow, and silicone, and paint it oo...no "whitish" looking areas, and if you're not a good siliconer, it will all be black or blue, and not as noticeable! HTH!

It is in a 2.5 gallon so painting afterwards really isnt going to be an option. I think I am going to try painting it with black krylon and I will just tape the edges back a quarter inch. I will be painting the back and bottom outsides of the tank as well. Hopefully I will have an update for everyone in my blog tonight. and hopefully it will not be titled disaster.
