overflow making the sucking noise...
Like the title says, my over flow is making that sucking sound that I thought the T and 90 PVC parts were suposta take care of....?? (I forget what you call it)
Its not constant, but it seems that the overflow area will fill up faster than the overflow can take, and then it will start a siphon and suck down really quick till it starts the slurping sound…
I was personally thinking that the hole in the top of it was too small to let enough air flow in.
Please let me know how to fix it, because the tank is in the bed room, and I can’t have this because both me and my g/f sleep in there and we need to work as well.
Moving it out of the room isn’t an option….

I assume you have a durso. If it is sucking, then the hole is too small...

WHOOHOO, then go me. Yes a durso...thats what its called...
I am happy because I guessed and I was right... Although this really doesn't have to do with reefs....but used in a reef tank so I'm happy knowing that I can kinda figure some stuff out.... (By the way I am just guessing that me and you are right)

Well why don't you make the hole bigger and see if it fixes your problem?

You and your G/F could move out of the room and you've got yourself a fish room!
Everyone needs a fish room.

At home depot you can get an RO water type valve fitting... it is threaded on one end and is the john guest (sorry about spelling, I don't think it's right) fitting where water line tubing plugs into it. Just tap the top of your durso cap and then teflon and screw the fitting. What this does is give you and adjustable durso... I will take a pic as soon as I can to show you what I mean.

Also, durso doesn't work right if you do not have a reducer at the bottom. For example, 1" bulkhead so your durso is 1.25" pvc that reduces down to the 1".
If you using 1" for everything then it could still have sucking sound after you have tuned the hole on top.....

it does reduce, and I drilled another hole into it that way if it didn't stop it and I felt I needed to close it up I could and be back to where I started...
but adding another hole cleared it right up... Small hole that is

Is that the little ball valve type fitting? I'm just about to make my durso's and that sounds like a very interesting way of having an adjustable air hole.
