OT: What email program do you use?

Well, I used to like to use Netscape's email that was built in with their browser. When my computer took a crap a few months ago, I lost all my emails. I was just using a web-based program, but it didn't work the greatest, especially since I had to delete out all the spam myself (and it unfortunately gets a ton of spam). Well, after a week of vacation, the spam was unreal. I tried to setup netscape email again, and well, I got it to work, but realllllllll slllllllooooooooowwwwwwwlllllllyyyyy is the best it will do. Anyone else have a good email program they like to use? Outlook, Eudora? Which one is good at antispam?
Anyhoo, any input is appreciated.

Oops, I should specify I'm looking for a desktop email, not a web-based email system.

I have a gmail account. Actually, I think I have 4 or 5 email accounts.

Outlook would be the way to go so many features and programs to ORGANIZE and SIMPLIFY your life I use this for work and I also have comcast, hotmail and have used netscape in the past. I think you will like the ease of backing up your data files, junk filter is great, contacts, appointments, mail merge etc 2003 outlook is what I just upgraded to has some nice new options. Check it out at www.microsoft.com and read about the features and see what you think. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...018071033.aspx

Outlook express is really simplistic and reliable. We just pay our ISP a couple bucks extra each month to spam filter everything before it goes in our box. I forget the name of the filter service the ISP uses but I'd bet they stay on top of the latest spam far better than desktop based filters. Keep in mind one of my email addresses is almost 14 years old and was very public for a long period of time so I'm on every junk mail list there is and get at most 2 or 3 junk mails a day now. I used to get well in excess of 100 emails a day.

Outlook hands down is the best. The other advantage for you being a Treo user is that you can sync Outlook to your Treo without any additional work.

BTW, there's 2 flavors of Outlook that poeple generally don't distinguish: Outlook, and Outlook Express. Outlook Express is simply for email and is free (usually comes installed with windows), whereas full-blown Outlook comes with calendar, scheduling, tasklists, reminders, etc as an all-in-one solution to organize your life, and costs $$ (either as a stand-alone app or with any version of MS Office).

Now that I've clarified, I'd say use Mozilla Thunderbird if you intend to use it just for email, but if you want to reorg your life & schedule and read some mail too, go for full-blown Outlook.

I like the full Outlook Program. There are a lot of nice features and can even set rules for certain messages you receive.

I also use Outllook Express for checking all my email. It is the only program that I have found that will will do Hotmail and all the others. The only downside is most of the virius and trojans are written to exploit Microsoft poorly protected software.

Outlook really is not great for spam. Typically you get the sapm and then you have to tell it yes it is spam. I have used OUtlook for 8 years and never found it to be useful in combating spam. If you are trying to setup something for personal email then use a internet email service so that it blocks all the spam and then use Outlook to dowload and manage the rest. You can configure Outlook to be used with just about any internet email service provider and that is what I had been doing until Gmail came along and now I am to comfortable with using the archive button to make all my troubles go away rather than sit there and sort them all out... Also the other advantage of doing it that way is that you can always access your email from anywhere in the world... or at least the email that you have not yet downloaded.
