OT-northern lights!
no, not the strain of weed, the real thing-aurora borealis. if i can see them in the city (now) they must be spectacular in the burbs or up in devin's neck of the woods. another reason to move north (and away from the city)! enjoy!

I was wondering if it was Northern Lights that I saw when I went through Lakeville on the way to Greg's.
Looked at first like the Batman call sign that they have out at Mystic Lake
A couple years back I saw them for hours on a flight from MSP to Iceland. Awesome display !!
I don't know about you but seeing them does have an erie effect on me

i think the first time i saw them was about 2 in the am returning to the dorm from the lab and they were ridiculous! no amount of sleep deprivation and/or hallucinogens could do that. totally reminds me that winter is coming (deseon-ready?)!
at first tonight i thought it was just glare off derek's tank (greg's tank being south of me)...

The are real nice if you move quite far north and do not live around all that light polution. The best that I have ever seen is when I was up camping in Canada and there were all knods of cool colors and you could see them swirling.

I saw them when I was leaving my house in Hudson. Incredable. I came over to Mpls, and nothing. They must look great out in the country.

I should have took a pic for you guys, I was welding in my garage and my neighbor came over to see it better (they are surrounded by trees), and showed me it. It covered the whole sky, there was green, blue, red, pink, and purple.

Wow. Can't believe how well you can see them! Makes me wish I was at my Mom's so I could see them with all the pretty colors.

It would be a good time to be up in the BWCA. I have never seen a better northern lights show than up there. No light pollution besides the camp fire.

I was outside for probably 1/2 hour looking at them. I had to sit back in a lounge chair, because they were right above me. As Devon said, lots of colors and awesome movement. Definitely the best I have ever seen.

they were bright here in Buffalo, but only saw greens. The best ones I have ever seen were up at our cabin, about 400 yds out on a frozen lake, in the middle of the night, with temps in the -20's

Only a Minnesootan would read that and think, "Cool!" That sounds awesome. Imagine...Up at the cabin, snowy and cold, sitting around the fireplace with family and friends. Nothing better. Now if I could only convince my wife of this...

They are beautiful here too, but I haven't seen any real color to them yet. Really bright though. Lynn, my very good friend from Ca. is with us for the winter, and she got to see them tonight for the first time. It's very cold outside to her, portent of things to come!
