OT Grizzly Man 11pm Discovery Channel

Like it says, a very cool documentary on a pretty cool nut. Timothy Treadwell spent several months each year living amongst Grizzlies, until they ate him. It's where I got the name for the Grizzily Maze echino. Check it out, it's pretty cool 11pm tonight on the Discovery Channel...

Yeah I rented that movie awhile back. That guy is a nut. I think he was a few cans short of a 6 pack. Very dedicated though, I will give him that. Very good documentary.

i caught part of this lastnight. all i can say is holy cow what a weirdo. i flip to it in the middle of some rant of his. i think he managed to drop the f-bomb 8 times in a fifteen second sentence. what a way to sound intelligent. i think the bears finally ate him just to shut him up.

Seriously though, this is the best documentary I have seen. We only get to see short bits out of over 100 hours of film. He shows us all sides and not just the goody side for his own films. He lets his guard down. I think it's amazing to watch several times as you pick up little things that tell you he was really doing research. He tracked rainfall and feeding and alot of stuff you don't see in this piece. He also get whackier every time you see it. Definitely a few screws loose on that guy, but amazing how he lasted 13 years that close. The most chilling part was the pilot who tried to chase the bear off as it was eating his rib cage. The closer the plane got the more the bear hunched down and just ate faster.

If you play with fire you are bound to get burned. Just like that goofball Manny who is out swimming with the sharks all the time. It is a cool until he gets a arm or leg ripped off. I know you have a better chance of getting struck by lighting but these meat heads swimming with sharks and playing with bears on a daily basis. Is like going out and holding a lightning rod in a electrical storm. Just increasing your odds....

I taped it last night. LMK and I can bring it to the meeting. (VCR required). Lot's of commercials, but just hit fast forward. It's worth watching at least twice to pick up on all the nuances.

Redwinger, couldn't agree more. Your odds of being bitten by a shark are zero if you stay out of the ocean. Of course, my odds are higher since I scuba dive in areas where they are common...on purpose. But I don't touch them on the nose or hang out while they are feeding, etc...

Another great documentary is on tomorrow night at 9:00 on A&E: Murderball. Murderball is about quadriplegic rugby players. You think the Grizzly Man is nuts, you should see these guys. I saw this in the theater, and thought it was one of the best documentaries I have seen in a very long time. Here is a link to a website about the movie: http://www.murderballmovie.com/

I watched about 2 hours of it or so last night. That guy was the most messed up EMO tree hugging hippie I've ever seen. Anyone who cries over seeing a dead bumblebee on a flower, or who says "Oh I love you so much Mr. Fox!! I love you I love you I love you" over and over has a screw loose.

I agree with the helicopter pilot. He got what he deserved. And like someone said, the real tragedy was that he brought that chick out there with him.

I wonder if we'll ever see the vid of him being chewed up leaked onto the Internets

The lens cap was on the camera it only recorded the horrible sounds of the both of them dying. I guess it was like 13 minutes long and they said you could hear Amy hitting the bear with a frying pan and Tim yelling to her to run and just leave him as he knew he was dead already. They did not play it though. Part of what he did was noble in theory but he also did more damage than good by getting these animals used to humans. No wild fox should ever be so comfortable to just come right up to you and hang out. Neither should bears when he was all giddy about Downey the female bear coming up to him what happens when she goes up to a poacher........she's dead. They think he taped the bear that killed him "Olly" he was an older bear and the creepy part is Tim states on camera this is the kind of bear that will eat humans out of desperation for food and says "will this be the bear that eats Timothy Treadwell?" Yup it was the bear, they removed several garbage bags of human remains from the bears stomach. The pilot said the bear was stalking him when he was walking towards their camp but sensed something was wrong and ran back to his plane when the bear came out after him. They say Amy had spent 3 summers with him up there and knew what she was doing but he definitely had several screws loose. Sadly they say 6-7 bears were poached after his death and that none had been poached during the 13 summers he was up there. So sad

The part where he was crying over the dead bee was so funny cause it was only resting, he must of felt so stupid when it flew away.
