Honestly, at the time about 18months ago. We bought at the time what consumer reports said was the best home performer, it heats up the water self propelled the whole works about $400.
Well, it still isn't as good as say a rug doctor that you rent for $20 a day. If works okay if you use it regularly but if your really wanting it to work well on some heavily soiled areas you will be disappointed.
So, personally renting one may give you better results depending on the current conditions.

that spot bot seems to be the only one I hear good things about.
my mom has one for her daycare or if the dog has an oops. says you just set it on the spot and it takes care of itself.

The problem with consumer reports is that you have to trust consumers. It's like if you go to say, a message board (like RC, for instance), and ask an opinion on a product, EXCEPT that you don't get to weed out the 90% of the responses that are completely useless...

Consumer reports tested different models, this was not just user opinion poll as you suggested.......

I was under the impression that Consumer Reports gets their data from surveys they send to actual consumers - maybe they do testing themselves too - anyway - I was just trying to be funny...I should probably just keep my mouth shut unless I have something useful to add...which is about never...

Info is good, it is up to the individual to determine if it is usefull. Start censoring the info and you might as well call your self CLEAR CHANNEL!!!!
