OT - Any Civ fans out there?
Man, just picked up Civilization IV the other day.
If ever there was a reason my social, family or scholastic life has experienced long-term stagnation in the past 10 years, it's been because of this **** game franchise. We won't even get into sleep deprivation...
I know I can't be the only Civ player around here, since the God-game concept probably has some parallels in reef keeping.
My first impressions of the game are two thumbs way up - and I have yet to even start a war (some folks say the new model takes some getting used to).
So before I ramble any more, show yourselves! Maybe we can even try that hot new multiplayer out, eh?

Havent played the Civ lines since they came out with decent online RPGs. I recently put the needle back in and am currently on my way up the ranks in World of Warcraft. Multiplayer online game are the most addicting thing since (insert drug or hobby of choice). Speaking of sleep deprevation, some of us have been known to do 30+ hour grinding marathons and raids. Now take your game and try to control a raid force consisting of 200-300 real life people to try to accomplish goals. Then throw in open PVP servers to the mix and you wonder where the time went.

deathmatch782 I started over with a bunch of guys from work alliance on smolderthorn. Stuckey_t and I also have toons on earadar I think him and his brother are both 60 hunters there. Have a couple toons on Icecrown with a relative (just to keep in contact he lives in Korea). And a evil toon on Hellscream with old guildmates from EQOA. I think smolderthorn will be my mains. I experimented a little before the warm weather hit, but just now as the weather is getting colder it is that time again. Trying to make the drive to 60 in a couple months. 1 week back at it and level 19 warlock.
Graham I totally agree with the family time, but my wife and I work different shifts and other than my SW hobby(addiction) I really dont have a lot going on in the winter. OTOH if the wife is home and awake I do not play (unwritten rule). I was good this year and took the needle out for the warm months, but the time has come...

dont have new version but have played all the others and even the sid meier space game (drawing a blank) but it was basically civ
loved the game, my only real annoyance was computer building cities to close to each other or in "my" space.

That new Civilization Game looks very fun. I'll probably play it down the road, but I just bought the Neverwinter Nights Platinum Addition. It's really funny of time slips away from you play these games... my wife doesn't cease reminding me lol
They just will never understand.
I'm really interested in the MMORP Games (World of Warcraft, Evercrack, etc) but I'm afraid once that needle goes in it probably will never come out.

Never tried Civ but was not tooooo impressed with World Of Warcraft. I like the original War Craft games better. However I be lovin' Counter Strike and Red Alert and all those type games... online or solo... I haven't done it in years though...
