off to a good start pairing clowns

Yesterday my friend bought me a juvenile false percula to try to pair with my perc at home. So far so good. Introduced him, and the first thing the large percula (hoping to turn into the female) did was make this weird "dance" and has been swimming with it since then. So hopefully the small percula will mature into a male. Not interested at the moment on breeding them, I just want them to become a pair. Also, I want to introduce an anemone, but I know with these it is kind of a hit or miss. what kind of anemone is compatible with the False Percula?

If by "false percula" you mean A. ocellaris, then I would recommend a bubble tip anemone. I know that in nature they host in ritteris and carpets. But my clowns host in a BTA. They did so after about 5 months. HTH

Might want to check out this link:

The shaking is the "submission dance."

I would definately go with a saltwater anemone. Seriously though BTA's are a good bet.

I have 2 110 watt actinic VHO and 2 x 175 watt metal halide. THe only thing I am worried about is I have SPS corals, and what if the anemone "travels", would itnot sting my corals if touched?

Until you have to change your bulbs. I changed my halides to 20K last month, and my huge BTA went under some rockwork, split into three, and is still hanging out. Anyone want a clone of that green BTA in my avatar? I would love to trade for SPS

I have noticed that only the anemones tips can sting, so if an anemone travels over some SPS, it won't really be all that bad.
However, I won't take that chance again. I had an RBTA that moved daily, but it never hurt any SPS although it was all over them a few times. I was tired of re-aquascaping to suit the anemone.

A purple LTA from Jerry(JnS) is a good bet. The price is right, and they look nice. But the best part about LTAs is that they don't move upward IME, since they need to wedge their foot between sand and rock they tend to stay on the sand. The bad thing is, they don't split very frequently, so don't count on it.

Your lights are plenty for any anemone IMO, but maybe not carpet anemones. I have never had one of those, so I haven't really looked into it.
