noob it up

Hey everyone! My buddy Hatty324 sitting right next to me has gotten a lot of help from you all since he is about to start his own journey into the reef world.
I personally have just started a 10 gallon hex noob tank. So far everything is going good my hydrometer is perfect, and all tests have been good. I have had it running for about two weeks and just added my first piece of live rock (4lb fiji) The only problems that i have run into is getting a glass top for the tank since they only make black plastic and finding a high wattage mini reef light that is 14" or smaller, and keeping the tank temp at a constant 78 (it slowly goes up and down during the course of the day.
Otherwise i really have not thought up how i would like the whole live rick set up to go. Also i have done some research on fish that can go into a 10 gallon tank but would like some suggestions if you have any. Anemonie's? Coral? anything would be great!!! Thanks

Andrew

shrooms and zoa's always look good in nanos, and are pretty darn hardy. As far as fish, hopefully someone else will chime in because I have never had a tank that small

Best of luck to you and keep us updated on your progress.

I wouldn't put a glass top on that- they trap heat and don't allow for oxygen exchange- how about some eggcrate?

As far as your lights- do you have legs for them to mount them over the tank?

Live rock- you want this to filter your tank- you got a skimmer on this tank too?

Pick out one fish- that's all you can really fit in there... or maybe a pair of small clowns at most

Thanks for the feedback so far:

I do have a skimmer built into my filtering system. Really looking into the eggcrate do you know where i can get some at all? No legs for the light yet and i don't know if they make a pair for it? I did look for a pair at the LFS... I am planning on getting a clown goby and a small percula clownfish. Will post a pic up soon!!!

Check out your local hardware store in the lights section for eggcrate. You can cut it down to size with a small saw.

You can take some 2x4s *i think* and make 4 short posts, paint them black maybe, and set your lights on that.... is it a light fixture or retrofit?

Don't get any fish yet... wait about 12 weeks- you will thank me later.

Roberts St. is coming alive! lol I work at the Best buy there and it gets pretty happening on the weekends. Brand new menards, Rainbow, Home Depot, Super Target, Super Wally World. Otherwise not much has happened here over the winter. Did you say your dad lives up in this area???
