New tank is FINALLY running!

Well, 3+ months later and the tank is finally up and running. I made a few modifications and the tank now sounds like a zen waterfall with a steady hum from the pump! Not bad... certainly better than the whirlpool it sounded like when I first started it up! The live rock isn't fully cured yet and hasn't been arranged properly. The lights are weak fixtures I had laying around so it's pretty bad and only temporary. I am still not sure what to do about lights... I still need a hood as well to hide the plumbing.

I hope to have fish in the next month or so!

Specs:

100gl 72" tank
33gl sump
TF1000 skimmer in sump
custom acrylic "biotower" from Something Fishy in sump
Mag 12 return pump (way too big, I need to downsize this)
200lbs of Haitian live rock
80lbs crushed Carribean substrate

Looking good. Good luck with it. What are you thinking to add first?

Thanks all!

Yeah, I plan to push the rock in a few inches from the glass on all sides and rearrange the pieces. There is some really nice rock in the back that needs to be moved to the front, etc. The first fish that are going in here are 2 really aggressive damsels and a Yellow Tang which have all outgrown my other tank. Eventually I will add an eel, a trigger or two, a puffer, maybe a wrasse and hopefully a couple decent size anemones. I already have the material to cover the back, I will probably get to that today.

PS Betty Page is my girl!!! Borderline obsession actually...

First fish in the tank on Sunday! He is healthy and enjoying being the only inhabitant of the tank! If he is still looking good this weekend I am going to move 3 of the fish from my 40gl tank to the this one.

It seems surreal now after all the work and fuss. Hopefully I will actually have time to enjoy the tank now that it's functional.

You probably know this already but DON'T rush on the lighting. Take your
time and pick the right one (if there is such a thing) the first time. I think
lighting is the one thing that almost everyone have wasted money on.

Yeah, for now I am using some el cheapo fixtures until I figure out exactly what I want to do. It's going to be fish only at least for now so I have some time.

Thanks!

some new pics now that my other tank is taken down and the contents moved to this one. I removed about 50-60lbs of rock and rearranged all of the remaining rock.

The back of the tank still needs to be painted and I still need some lights.
