New Mantis tank

Well here is the finished product. I had Bob whip this up for me. The dimensions are as follows. 24X18X14, it is plumbed into the main display and is fed with a mag seven. Total volume is about 26 gallons. It is made out of 1/2" thick acryllic. This is about the sturdiest 20-30 gallon tank I have ever seen! This is where the new peacock will be housed along with mostly zoos, rics, and other low light corals. It is lit by 55w pc's 50/50 bulbs. A few moonlights for nightime viewing. I hated to do this as it violates my sandbed boycott but felt it was nesc for the mantis to be happy. About a 2 inch substrate of sand, crushed coral. Took the three big turbos out of the display and threw them in there along with about 20-30 astrea and cerith snails for cleanup and breakfast, lunch and dinner. No mantis in there yet as the small one I got from jerry is probally going to stay in the fuge. Will post more pics when he arrives. He has a nice little cave allready but I am sure he will take that down and do some redecorating.

Sweet. Looks smaller then it is. At first glance i thought it was like a 5 gallon or something.

So when you say that the mantis you got from Jerry is going to stay in the sump, is this just for a little while or are you going to get a larger one somewhere for the new tank?

Wow, I love the setup!! Did you put the tank together or Bob? Is it hooked into a little sump or your main display?

Looks perfect for a Mantis Den. Great Work!!!

I can't wait to see pics when you get him.

Nope this was something that I had bob do for me before I got the acryliic from you. That is for another project. They usually grow to over 6 inchs

Bob built it for me. I don't have the tools nor the skills to do the kind of work he does. It is plumbed into the main display the overflow goes into the sump and a mag 7 returns water from the sump. I did it this way so it will run off all the equiptment on the display.
