Wanting to try one of the NW pumps. Is the Sedra the best bang for the buck?

I hear really good things about Ocean Runners and Sedras. I'm gonna say it..... *zips up flame suit* Okay, all nestled in, *shrugs, takes a deep breath* I like my Rio 2100, works pretty slick, and I havn't been zapped yet!!!! But they are pretty cheap, seems to do the job, would like to try something else and see if I notice a difference.

Sedra 5000 needle-wheel and the ocean runner 3700 are very comparable. However I think the deltec needle wheel design in the sedra is a little better. If using smaller diameter tubing such as 4" or smaller the Ocean Runner 2700 may do the trick but only on smaller skimmers. 6-8" diameter tubing stick with the larger pumps.

I have a few select Rios in a bucket in the garage. Hold your hand in some saltwater when they are running and your hair will stand on end. I should probably chuck them.

Some people have good luck with the rios. I didn't. I wouldn't trade 3 rios for my OR. But thats just one persons opinion. Absoutly not ripping on anyone wearing a tinfoil buny suit.

The Eheim 1260 Needle wheel that Deltec uses can be purchased online. But, at a pretty hefty price. $299.99

o just wait for a little while until sequence gets there new needle wheel on the market. then supercharge that skimmer! 1 dart with a needle wheel will blow the top off your skimmer. ha ha ha ha . unless its 12" tube and 4 feet tall. then i still dont think the skimmer body would be big enough. i like the ocean runners for the smaller bubbles they make. the sedras make a little bit bigger bubbles. i hear from other people that the sedras are louder than the ocean runners. dont know that for sure though.

if fed-x and ups had a class action lawsuit brought against them for freight damages this hobby would be alot cheaper!

The pumps on the newest Euroreef skimmers coming out are made by gen-x. Early indicatons are the sedra's are better and more $$, but it is early....

Also with acrylic pricing going ballistic, wait til you see the prices on the new Euroreef skimmers, especially 8" and larger, ouch! I am sure this is true with many acrylic products.
