Need help asap with ocean sand question

So I am over in portland on business and we are driving over to the coast today. I was thinking it would be cool to pick up some ocean sand with ocean water in it to throw in my reef to add some biodiversity, though I guess I haven't hear of anyone else doing this. Is this a good idea???? I am leaving in less than an hour. I was going to get a water bottle or two. I can get a bunch more if it is a really good idea or if someone else wants some. LMK asap!

thanks,
Jeff

six of one half dozzen of the other. That old fella takes sand and stuff from NY beaches. Probably not worth the effort. The plugs and rock that comes with all the stuff from frags is probably diversity enough. we can only guess.
