I should of said this before. I have a small mantis in this tank. So no shrimp. Snails have been ok though. He is well fed. Wont the clown and the royal gramma get to big? Also I have them in the 90 anyway.

Thanks

If you keep the mantis well fed and it is a smasher than it will leave most fish alone that are not rock dwelling. Most blennies and gobys are off limits as they are mostly rock dwelling. If the mantis is a spearer than kiss your fish goodbye. I was able to keep damsels with my peacock for quite sometime. I kept the peacock well fed. Towards the end of my keeping mantis I started feeding once a week instead of every day and good bye damsels it was.

It can be done but I do not condone it. Like I said keep him well fed and your success will be better. But if you get a rock dwelling fish that travels by its burrow one whack and goodbye fish. It will be a defensive strike vs a strike to eat it.

I kept a small one in a 5 gallon tank for about six months. It was about 2" long and did just fine.

For a tank that size you are really limited to gobies and blennys which are more rock dwelling fish and with the mantis in there you can pretty much kiss the fish goodbye at that point.
