mixing clownfish

I have two bubble tip anemonies, green 10-12" and rose about 4-5" and currently have a 3" maroon clown hosting in the green anemone. I want to get a pair of ocelaris or percula clowns for the other anemone. However i want to know how big of a deal the maroon is going to make of this. just looking for some opinions or experiences. thanks!

IMO the maroon will make a huge deal out of it. My maroon owns the tank, if anything comes in that ticks it off, it will kill it in a matter of days. That is just my experience though, I am sure some others will pipe up with thoughts as well

How big is the tank? Does the maroon stay on one side or does he roam? How far are the anemones separated?

Maroon will probably not be happy. If the new clowns are smaller they will more than likely be killed.

thats what i was thinking, I would love to have a little group of clowns but would never get rid of the maroon who has been with me since the beginning. looks like he will have a home on either side of the tank.

You could get lucky and they live together fine. I had a 3" GSM and then introduced a Oscellaris. They shared an anemone until I got another GSM. Then it was a fight to the death. The GSM that had been there all along turned.

Do NOT do it!
The only good thing is that clowns are easy to catch when they start to kill each other.

I have Occ clowns(mated pair), a pair of pink skunks, pair of Clarkii and a black saddle back in my 125. I had minimal territory disputes. Having said that I have to say with Maroons, I would not attempt the same. I have a pair of Maroons in my 92 and they are intolerant of anyone or ANYHTING new that is added to their "territory". They move anything placed where they don't want it, or anyone they don't want. My Maroons have learned to accept my presence in the tank as I am the hand that feeds them, they get along great with the other tank inhabitants.....as long as they know who the boss is! I wouldn't trust adding any other clown though.

he is a ******* too...... doesnt like the cardinal fish around his anemone, the tangs have put him in his place though. I think that its probably best if i skip out on adding new clowns. I just wish i would have been better informed when i bought him. But thats why i am here now

If it were any type other than a maroon I would try it.....but not with a maroon. Ours is much the same as above, not tolerating anyone or any thing in what it considers her terf....
If you want other clowns you may want to consider an additional tank

I have a gold banded maroon clown fish and two percs. They stay on one side of the tank hosting in some frowgspawn and the maroon stays on the other side hosting in my red bubble tip. I have them on a 75 gallon BTW.

the only reason i would even contemplate doing this is that i know with clownfish you, usually, dont have to tear appart the whole tank to get them out. thanks for all of the input everyone.

Does your Maroon come up and feed from your hand? Mine does, I can just pick her up. Try feeding her near the surface. Also try moving her anemone. Often they will blindly follow the anemone. try putting the anemone inside a fish trap. just some ideas to consider
