Making a Sump

I wont to make my own sump for my 72bow. Right now i am using a 20gal tank and i would like somthing a little bit bigger.

Questions:
Dose anyone have a place they recommand to by some thick acrylic?
Dose anyone have any advice so that i dont have any leaks after seting it up?

You can, I've owned a 72g bow for the church for several year. 20g High tank is pretty close to the max anyways, you may be able to squeeze out a little larger sump going custom but your only talking inches. To make one longer because for the bow it will need to be narrower than the 20g tank is so as far as water volumne it is also minimal.

If your not already running an external pump on your sump, this will probably give you more room in your sump than building a bigger one with a submersable in located in the sump.

Also, if your talking a standard type stand. You may have a hard time fitting the max sized sump in there without tearing down the tank to do it.

As far as building it, When you done using typically Weldon #3 or 4 then go down the seems with a nice bead of some Weldon #16 which is thicker this will ensure it won't leak. Places to buy acrylic has been discussed in previous threads you can do a search for.

Will you be cutting it yourself meaning getting a full sheet or do you want the shop to cut the demensions for you ? If you wanting them to cut it A1 Acrylics in MapleGrove is probably you best place even though it will cost more for the acrylic because they do custom work smaller scale stuff, you may luck out and some of the scrap may be large enough. Buying full sheets Laird in Brooklyn Park. They are not much for customer service though and to the best of my knowledge isn't goint to cut it.
