Looking like the dreaded flatworms AGAIN!
I'm pretty confident that my tank got infected again with the acro eating flatworms based on some observations of the inhabitants over the last month or so. -SIGH- It's really going to suck to have to rip corals that had encrusted nicely to treat them. I'll probably only do a few rounds of treatments before doing the same wholesale removal of all sps and leaving the tank without any for 3 months. I'm betting a lot of people are infected and don't know it, or do and aren't saying anything. Where's the magic bullet? : )

Kevin, I went to freshfishes house yesterday and it appears that his tank may be infected as well. Sorry to hear that this stuff is going around again. I have been lucky enough to not have to deal with it so far, but the treatment I use before adding anything to the display is borderline abuse. Good luck.

Kevin, It's gotta to be tough to swallow having it happen all over again.
I will say that I am glad to get out of the acros. Just isn't worth the risk anymore for me.

That sucks I don't know whats going on but very slowly over the last couple of weeks my sps is getting eating from the bottom up I thought maybe I was doing something wrong but everything else in my tank is doing great (LPS) don't know where it came from because I have gotten things here and there Pretty frustrating though. I only have about 5 pieces or so of SPS hope it goes well with you.

Yea it does suck, but what can you do? I guess I havent found a good cure the buggers yet. I've been experimenting with heavy lugols dip, freshwater dips, coldwater dips both salt and fresh, levimisole dips, haven't tried fw exit yet. Hopefully soon there will be a 99% effective treatment.

I'm using a double dose of Levimasole for 8 hours but getting the ones that are on an encrusted base I can't get off the rock is the hard part. Think I'm going to try super glue over the base, maybe a shot with concentrated kalk would kill the worms on the encrusted portion.

I would do the intank treatment to make sure that you kill all the stanglers that are on your rocks and so on. There is a poll on RC with results going on right now in the SPS forums and it looks like people are having good results doing this.

Sorry to hear this Kevin. I for one would like to know what the incoming President is planning to do about this problem.

Think I'll end up having to set up a small treatment tank to hold all acros in for a month and a half or so while anything in the main tank starves. The unknowns are how minimalist could the treatment tank be without hurting the corals. 20 gal with a hang on (hopefully borrowed) skimmer, heater, (lighting is a big unknown) and a magnum 350 with carbon plus a power head for circulation? Just siphon water out of the main into the treatment tank for water changes.
How would I deal with the treatment? Dose the treatment tank directly and just turn on the carbon filter after 8 hours once every couple weeks or so? Ideas would be appreciated.

you might want to get ahold or reefsitter. he was expermenting with fluke tablets and found them to be very sucessful with the acro flat worms. i dont know the doseages he was using but he got rid of them a couple of times. he never had them in the main display. he always puts new corals in the Q tank. he was just doing experments on affected corals. i know he got some corals from the local fish store that had the flat worms.
