Looking for MH lighting for Christmas
So I am looking for some MH lighting for my Christmas list. Ofcourse gotta check Ebay. I am thinking like no more then 200watts each, 175w would be ideal I think. I ran accross this, does this seem good to put on a list?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...340608423&rd=1
Feel free to comment or make up a ideal setup with what I would need, I am not 100% sure on what all I would need so I am looking at complete kits, or kits minus bulbs. This would be going on my 90.
Thanks,
-Skip

Thanks that helps a lot but what kind of bulbs does one order? Won't having one type on one side and another type on the other throw the lighting pattern off and not be even? Or does one get 2 of the same and have alternate actinics?

Its all personal preference. Some people may do 2 different K values like a 10 and a 20K for example. I had an old 75 almost same dimensions as a 90. I used 2 250W halide with 2 VHO Actinics. My current setup has 3 250W XM 10Ks and 2 140W VHO Actinics, on a 140gal. You could also check hellolights.com. Or, you could try the total DIY route and make your lights yourself. Thats what I did. Built 3 Halide setups for around $300.

skip, just go to hello lights...the people there are more than friendly, and the cost isn't much over ebay, and the product you will be getting is great.......talk to them on the phone tomorrow, they will set you up with what you need...
PS I have a 90 that will be running 2x250w MH 10,000k and 2x40w NO Antic
I have been told that my set up is more than enough...but it seems to be all personal preference like jg24 said.
Just promise you'll call hellolights.com before you buy off of ebay..
(also, I looked at that same set up before I bought mine, and there was something about it that made me want to go with hellolights.com over them....I forget what, but call them and tell them, they will talk man to man with you and not be just about selling you what ever...)

I have picked up most of my lights from folks that are 1 upgrading or 2 getting out of the hobby. I currently have 2 x 250 IC, 10k Ushio and 20k XM, over my 46 along with 2x75 VHO on a 660 and 2x250 De Ocean Lights,14k Hamilton, in the closet waiting for my 120 upgrade. All together I think I have paid around 800 for the works less bulb changes.
I suggest the selling forums both here and on RC first. I know that there was a guy in Rochester trying to get rid of a couple 250 setups here recently.

I wouldn't get the ebay one. I ordered from that ame source awhile back and it was junk. Ended up have to sell it again and start all over.

I had 175Wers for from 1996-1999. Good for a community tank with mostly lps and softies, SPS some do okay others will not reach full potential.
Spending the extra few dollars ( very little price difference ) and get the 250W. If you ever upgrade tanks etc. you will likely still be able to find a good use for the 250W. You may outgrow the 175s.
