Lighting a tall reef

I currently have a 72 bowfront and am looking at moving to a 150 (24x48x30). I have 2 15K 250w MH's and 2 actinic vho's on a mixed reef that is getting heavier on the sps side right now. What do you think is going to be needed to light a 30" tall reef? Keep in mind, I don't want to have everything stacked right up to the surface either. Please only respond if you have experience with such setups.

Steve/Smeese had the same tank. He used 400W for a while, but I believe he was looking to downgrade last I heard. T-5s might be an option as well.

My 92 bow front corner is 29" deep and 2x250 HQI work great. I even have sps in the sand that are coloring up nice.

my 220 is 31" tall and I run 400 watters all the way across. I did put a 250 on one end, and one time, just to see, but it didnt seem to be bright enough to light up the bottom well. Seeing both side by side was what made me decide for sure that 400's were the way I wanted to go. JME though.

Definately go with 400's I was thinking of downgrading when I debated on getting rid of SPS but with those you will want 400's for sure. If you do go 250's definately go with a 10-1400k

I would do two 250 watt 10,000k bulbs, A good quality set matched up to the appropriate ballast will do just fine with your set up. IMO it is ok to go with 400 watt halides on that height, but is definitely not necessary at all and for most of us a waste of electricity that hurts our wallets too much.
