Leaving Friday

for Nicaragua...I KNEW you would all miss my insight, comedic genius and purple pride so...

I'll be down there as part of a medical delegation-delivering some medical supplies and observing medical care in both urban (Leon) and rural settings. At least part of the time we will be paired with Nicaraguan medical students working in the ER which should make for some excitement ( what with my espanol skills being so polished ). There are a dozen of us from the PA (Physician Assistant) program at Augsburg making the trek. Should be a blast although I'm sure time to play is gonna be limited

When I get back (the 16th or 17th?) there will be hell to pay for slanderous (or treasonous-trodder) remarks against my purple.

Enjoy the frag trade fellas-I wish I could go!

I'll miss ya'll...jp, tico, sup, BARRY, Havre, Bob!, john, Mark-how could i forget?, D, D2, D3, DX, (interupting the early east-west vibe-we go way up north for) fahz, tom & jerry, troy, beng, chadley, rob, G!, dale, David (don't know why you're not considered a D-happy baby my friend!), stanley, ken, Jeremiah was a bull...Froggy, dan, Loverotties-whoever the hell you are! geshields-i'm flying continental into houston!-gone but not forgotten-bill bramucci ( witnessed my first muskiethanks for the memories) and the rest of the crew who i accidentally left out!

Hopefully my girlfriend won't have to post an sos while i'm gone (flashback to troy's meeting) as the tank is pretty self-sufficient. i've got her feeding (portioned out) every other day and emptying the skimmer cup once.

Ladies...

I was missed somewheres in this rant, so good luck and don't let the mosquitoes bite you on the $%@. You still want that wave master?

P.S. TG. I am the original defender of the PURPLE PRIDE. Ask my wife, I had to drill a hole through the new house walls, so I had the game in my garage. The Nord land is safe while you are away my friend!!!!!

If you need someone to stop over for a quick emergency something other you know I am in the hood and could stop by. If you still have my cell # laying around don't hesitate. I may need someone to stop by in the future myself.

Rich. have fun and be careful. This sounds like a very worth while and rewarding undertaking. Actually I am very impressed! I always figured you were a good kid but this is truly a noble deed. This is the kinda thing in life that really matters...not reefkeeping or football!

Which part of Nicaragua? Your eyes will be opened to how good we have it here. I went on a missions trip last May to aid refugees from Nicaragua living in Costa Rica. Basically, just how the Mexicans try to find a better life here, they go to Costa Rica hoping to find the same. Think about that, they are so poor in Nicaragua, they risk their lives to go to another third world country. I know a couple spots on the West Coast of Nicaragua that are beautiful if you have a free day. A bit of advice: Even if your Spanish is bad, do your best to speak as much as possible. You may not realize it, but they look at the effort as "a rich (no pun intended and we are all considered rich, how else could we get there) American taking the time to communicate with the people." Have fun and let me know if you have time and watch the sharks in lake Nicaragua (bull sharks, don't swim!)

whoa-no offense dude-SERIOUSLY-i just think its funny that you're in new jersey-yet you visit our local forum (not that its exclusive or that i want it that way) more than a lot of us!

havre-thanks!

mike-thanks for the advice! we're flying into managua and we'll only spend a night or two there but if we get down to the lake-i'll keep my eyes peeled. our major stops will be Leon and a village called El Chagwe (i'm butchering the spelling but phonetically that is how it sounds). also sounds like we'll hike one day to a tiny village called Tallolinga (spp?) and spend the night there. i believe all are west-central. maybe one day at the beach/ocean-otherwise i think we're a ways inland.

nicaragua per capita is like the second poorest country in the americas-costa rica is a bit further up the list but as i'm sure you witnessed far from kansas. it will certainly be eye opening (actually my first trip out of the US-26yrs-yikes!)!

thanks well wishers!
