Large Mushroom question

I have a large mushroom given to me by a generous club member and its been doing great, growing away. Last night I saw that one of its smaller mushrooms closed together looking very much like the pod of a opium poppy....errr or just poppy. Now I noticed another one of the smaller muchrooms beside this doing the same thing. Is this a method of reproducing? All seems healthy.

Have these mushrooms recently captured food perhaps? This is how some types of mushrooms look when they are ingesting food (some types can even catch fish this way, if the fish rest on them).

Don't panic though...I'm not trying to suggest that you have fish-eaters.

Sue,
I have some that do the same thing. When I first got them and they started doing the cupping thing I freaked out thinking they ate one of our gobies
All fish were accounted for and I don't worry about it anymore. I know that they are getting plenty to eat when I see them cupped like that. Now if you buy the elephant ears mushroom you will have reason to think they may have eaten a fish. These get HUGE and will eat fish. I don't know if any club members have any, I don't think anyone wants their fish eaten.
Good to hear your tank is doing well
