large Elegance for sale
Hello,
I have had this Elegance coral for over a year and it has out grown it's home so I need to find it a new one. Will take $100.00 or best offer. Fully extended it is about 14" in diameter. Will also consider trades for sps coral.
Neon green with pinkish tentacles and blue tips.
Please pm or post here if interested.
Thanks,
Keith

Wow, that's an amazing coral! My impression was that these corals didn't have the greatest track record in the aquarium, but yours is obviously not the case.

Approximately how big was the coral when you purchased it? Is there any special husbandry you might attribute your success with this coral to?

David - you want to get rid of another blue table frag at the next meeting?

The elegance is my favorite coral, bar none, but I haven't purchased one after I lost my first one after six months. I would love to hear the conditions you keep it in: strong/weak light? Skimmer/no skimmer? Tank parameters? Foods?
Also, I'd like to know where you purchased it, as I would really like to give it another shot. Maybe your outlet has better stock overall, or maybe you're just really gifted with the corals. Either way, you've revitalized my downtrodden attitude toward keeping these awesome corals. Thanks in advance for the info.
Sam

Absolutely Beautiful!
I would love to have success with one of these corals. Not sure what the secret is but I've attempted twice with no luck. This would be a great purchase. At least you would know you have a healthy one.

The elegance coral is sold!
When I got this coral about 14 months ago it was 1/2 to 2/3 the size it is now. Here are some important factors that have given me success with elegance corals:
1 - Don't buy one unless it looks healthy. These things are hard to recover from an unhealthy stage. Basically, if they don't look good there gonna die. From what I have read and heard elegance corals are hard to take out of the wild and acclimate to tank conditions.
2 - RO/DI water only, don't even bother with tap water.
3 - Keep water quality high and parameters stable at recommended values. For me, this means lots of water changes and regular testing once or twice a month.
4 - Adequate lighting. My elegance corals did well under pc's but really took off once I switched to MH. I do think it is possible to keep them without MH.
5 - Read through sites like TRT and Reef Central to check other peoples experience. I have found lot's of great info using the search function.
I'm no real expert, but I do attribute my success with these corals to keeping up on maintaing water quality which provides stability for the corals. If things are allowed to slip you may not see it right away, but it will catch up to you.
Thanks for being interested...
Keith

Crevalle, I bought it from a friend of mine that got it from the same fishery in the south metro that many lfs get coral and other livestock. If you are looking for one I would first try Wet World or maybe you could get lucky and find a healthy one at Something Fishy that hasn't been there long.
