Just wanna say Hi.
Ive been lurking for quite some time now and I figure I should come out of the shadows and introduce myself. I live up in St Cloud. I have a 55 gal heavily planted fresh water tank. Also a 10 gal low tech planted tank.
Now for the stuff you guys give a darn about, I am setting up a 80 gal reef tank. I bought it out of the paper 6 months ago for 75 bucks , that is the upside the downside is it had been out of commission for quite some time. I have had to do quite a few repairs such as replacing some water damaged panels on the stand, Ive got a Mag 18 coming in the mail to replace the 15 year old encrusted Quiet One that was in there. I am converting the wet/dry sump into a refugeum and sump. Ive also got some live rock coming in the mail to add to the "was live rock" that came with the tank.
I have already seen how nice and welcoming everyone here is, so this seems like the message board for me. I may even attend a meeting someday.

When you think your tank is ready for corals, send me an e-mail. I can give you a bunch of coral frags to try out. There is no sense in you spending lots of money when I have stuff in excess that you can try out. I don't have the diversity or abundance of corals I used to have (I had a system crash and some big tank problems this past year, though things are lots better now), but I have lots of different nice things I could frag for you.
When I was first starting out I was afraid my tank was not ready for SPS corals, but someone (a vendor, actually) gave me one to try out at no financial risk, just to convice me that it was not so hard to keep these corals. I still have that coral ( Pocillopora damicornis), and this is one of the ones I can give you.
No need to feel obligated to give anything in return. Just be willing to do the same for others when you have corals to spare at some point in the future.

Welcome aboard Tony! Where did you order your live rock from? What type is it?
What type of reef tank are you striving for?
Again, Welcome !

I ordered 45 lbs of premium Fiji from Live Aquaria. Ill add this to the 100 LBS of "was live rock" that came with my system and hopefully some of that live rock goodness with rub off.
I would like to house all types of corals, although I did not buy a RO/DI unit, I have the City of St Cloud tap water report and we have very good water up here. I may learn my lesson though.
I am planning on having a 4" or so size limit on fish.
When the previous owner of this tank took it down(years ago I wasnt there) he just put all of the live rock and many corals(lps and sps) in a box. So I have a lot of dry dead coral should I put them in the tank? I know they wont come back to life but they look kinda nice and have alot of surface area.
Thanks for the warm welcomes and Capman I might just take you up on that offer in a few month. Ill try to get a few photos of the tank that I am setting up.
