Just hooked up my Remora Pro!!
I knew that it would arrive today so I decided to work from home(I need help). Very easy to hook up and it is creating a lot of bubbles and clear foam from the minute I turned it on. This is my first skimmer so I have no reference point but it seems fairly quiet and easy to clean.
as for Ocean Devotion, it is an awesome store. I went there after the meeting that I missed on Sat and Keith is great to talk to and great selection of fish so far. I picked up 25 snails and crabs while I was there they only cost $1 & $1.50ea. My LFS charges anywhere from $2-4, will definitely be back.
I have no excuse to miss Smeese's meeting as I live in Mankato.
Out,
Robert

I hope you got the order of those prices wrong... they charged me $1.50 for snails, not $1.00, also after the meeting.
Perhaps I just chose premium, more expensive escargot...

Correct, the Crabs were $1 and $1.50 for snails.
So far the weekly and monthly maintanence has not been a problem for me, just one more thing to clean.

What pump did you get with the Remora? We have had ours for about 10 months now.....the past five months it has pretty much stopped working for us. My husband cleans it but the collection cup still remains empty and I KNOW there has to be something to skim in there. We have written to the company twice and they just keep telling us to clean it (which we do). They said that if we get foam - then it is working correctly. Well we DO get foam for the first day after we clean it but nothing ever appears in the collection cup for skimmate and then the foam stops too. And unfortunately I am clueless when it comes to the equipment. Hmmmm..........

did you use the small brush it came with to clean out the injector? Sometimes they get gummed up and need to be cleaned. Could also be a water chemistry issue. What is your Salinity?

I got the mag 3. The foam has gone down the neck already but it has been hooked up for only 3hrs now.
The only thing I'm going to change is where the water intake is for the pump, because I hooked it up where the intake is directly below where the water comes out of the skimmer, so it may be mostly skimming the same water over and over. I think it will work if I just turn it around to face the left away from the skimmer?
If I find any tricks for you I'll let you know

Iwas going to say the same thing!Clean the injector and if your salinity is low,it won't work as well!

I will check with my husband tonight to see if he is using that brush thing...thanks!
My salinity is around the 1.024 - 1.025 range.
We got the one with the rio - not the mag 3......I wonder if that would make much of a difference.

If it is new it will take some time ~ week or less. Most skimmers new will have this. Something about the acrylic curing leaching or whatever. SO, DONT SET THE BUBBLES TOO HIGH. My remora overflowed a few times before I could get the level right and it became stable.
