Jalli and Finnex Lights

Smelled something funny tonight when I walked by the tank. Saw the cooling fan wasn't working on the light, and started tearing the fixture apart. Found flash marks all over one of the bulb sockets...was the same one the power for the fan is on. cleaned all wires off, didn't see any burn marks through the wires, and the sockets look ok. Can't get to the power source for the 12v fan, as it's in shrink tubing, but everything looked ok. The fan spins, quietly, but not very fast at all. Should I try replacing the fan tommorrow, or time to get a different light?

Manderson if you are interested in doing an order pool with me for some t-5's let me know. The fixture is a Jalli 4x54w T5 retro with bulbs. Price is 167.50 + 30 ship.

I have Jalli PC's and I really don't care for them. The weather resistand "boot" that goes around the socket for the bulbs are complete garbage.

Installed a new fan today....barely runs at all. Checked all connections and wires again; no problems found. E-mailed company I bought light from after I saw a 1 year warranty. I figure I'm either going to sell it when I get it back, or rip the guts out to switch out the 2 55w PC's in the canopy, and use a backup pair of 55w ballasts for the second tank.
