Is this Tank Drillable?
I believe it was originally purchase from Forest Lake Pets. I'm not 100% positive. It's a 55 gallon (48x12x21).

I saw one exactly like it at Something Fishy and it was label All-Glass Aquarium.
Unfortunately, my has no such label, the only label is a sticker on the bottom stating that the bottom is tempered glass and it was assembled by Debbie H.
I am looking to drill 4 (1 3/4) holes on the backside.
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Beng

Well if the bottom is the only thing that is tempered then you should be ok. But if the sides are then I wouldn't try.
Not to make a sale or nothing, but if you want to return that one, I have one you can have for the same cost as yours, with a stand and it is not tempered

I got it 6 months ago for real cheap. Been aching to drill it but want to make sure it wasn't tempered.
Anyone have one exactly like this?

If it's an AGA (looks like it to me) only the bottom is tempered from what I can tell on their website & catalog.
You could always give AGA a call & see if they can help you id it for sure. 414-421-9670

If that's an AGA, you should be fine. Correct me if i'm wrong but with AGA's, only the bowfronts are tempered, and thats the bottom.
To be absolutely sure however, go to the AGA Site and look at the specs of the tank in question, or you can call them.

Almost all AGA tanks have a tempered bottom. There is a list of what does & doesn't have a tempered bottom on their site. It's mostly smaller tanks 30 gallons or less.

My bad, you're right AnemicOak, the bottoms are all tempered once you go above 30 gallons.

Beng, I think you are fine to drill your holes in the side. I am interested i knowing why you want 1.75" holes?

Where's Derek? I would have expected him to say "Grow some nads, and just drill it!" by now.

Hehe, Yes, Colonel, I got the Nads to do it Sir !
FatFish, I'm doing 1 3/4 holes because I have 1" bulkheads. I can possibley go for a smaller hole, just as long as it will fit.
Wish there were some serial number or product code on these tanks. It would make everything so much easier.
Well, one BIG thanks to all of you who've responded, I am definitely going to drill it.
I can't imagine a fish tank without any holes in the back and I'm never willing to run an overflow, it just doesn't look natural.
Now all I need is to get a couple of diamond bits and a Dremel from Walmart.
Wish me luck.
Beng
