is it a big deal if your sump/fuge bows out a bit ?

i had a new fuge/sump made for me and the fuge bows out about 3/4" . Is this a big deal ?

i attached a pic but you cant see the bowing really because i drained most the water out of it before i thought about making this post.

I wouldn't feel comfortable with it and would add more top bracing.

However, I don't know if it would actually blow out or not......

I would sleep better at night with some additional bracing.

I agree with David and JP on this one. Ever since my old 30 drained on me (it was glass though) I have been super paranoid about water flooding my floor again.

BTW, What are the dimensions of the sump? And also what thickness of acrylic is it? Just curious becuase I am having a sump built as soon as I finish designing it. (real pita because it's such a small footprint)

A little bowing is OK, depending on the span. I would not like anything that bowed more than 1/4". I would add some cross bracing to the sump. This is fairly easy to do.

(Another poor mans way is to get a clamp, and use it as a cross brace, just use it to get the bowing out of the tank)

I agree a little bow may be fine, but in the long run I have to agree that it would be safer to brace the top of the tank to stop the bowing
