is 33$ for a small yellow tang worth it?
petco just got 4 yellow tangs in on tuesday, hardly 1.5 inches long each. i wont have my 65 up for another 3-4 weeks and concidering useing this time to quarenteen one in a 10 gal.
i could wait till they go on sale for 22$ each but that might not happen again for a few months..
anyways, what would any of you do if you REALLY wanted a yellow tang, only had a 10 gal hospital tank ready, and wont have the 65 gal display tank ready for a few more weeks? and they are hardly the size of a half dollar. btw i have a 30$ gift card to petco i wana burn up and somehow 8$ on my pals card?????

$29 is a very typical price for a tang at most fish stores and would have a much greater success rate than buying from petco.

I would just use the card to buy food, for the tang once you get it, I use the Julian springs sea veggies, purple and they absolutely love it. You are going to get a better deal, healthier, larger fish somewhere else. IMO.

No. Plain and simple that is too much money for a fish from petco. Especially such a common one.

you have a very good point, however due to such a small Q-tank, i want a smaller tang to start things off with. i use nori bought from the super market, its roasted but the price is right. i also have unroasted nori mixed in with the roasted. also have spirlina wafers somewhere. (spelling?)

Fresh Kale, and Spinach work well also, and they dont break down as fast.

Are you buying a bigger tank?Tangs need to swim allot in big areas.100 gallons or more. Otherwise they don't get the right exercise(like being in a jail cell.)

65 gal. i agree more space would be better. 75 gal is suposed to be the min for yellow tangs but i guess im streching it. i originaly wanted a regal tang, but clearly a 65 will not keep a full grown regal tang.

For tangs it's more of a length than gallons. A 36" tank is pretty small for any tang. Not that it hasn't been done before just not recommended.
