The margins on new cars these days is pathetic. On average an electronics dealer makes more on a $2500 TV than we do on a $25000 automobile. I would bet that there is at least 100% markup in that $125,000 tank.

I didn't realize that regarding the margins on a new car. I would agree on the 100% markup on the tank. Yeah I guess you are in the wrong biz Well I guess you could start putting fish tanks in cars

Looking at the hair on the guy that builds the houses reminds me, don't mix electricity and saltwater.

I am a rep. for Living Color - I install their reef sculptures into all my fish only aquariums. The matierals for that job were marked up 15% to 20%(standard markup in the industry for materials). Granted, they probably charged $25,000 for installation - but installing an aquarium of that size is no easy task. Look at the cabinets and imagine the process that goes into making them. Or the custom molds for the 100% custom reef sculpture. Or the structural support for the aquarium (the stand and the supporting structure). Or the spun cast cylinder aquarium (if you have ever bought 8" caste acrylic tube, then you can understand why a cylinder of this size would be so expensive). Or the life-support system located in a remote location in the house.

Here is something that will blow your mind. Living Color has installed aquariums where the sheets of acrylic used were $50,000 wholesale. Or another aquarium they installed, the shipping to get the cylinder from where it was manufactured to the client's home was $190,000 (had to have police escort and power company to take down power lines - was a 13 ft. diameter cylinder aquarium).

Go to their website and you will see some aquariums that will amaze you.
