If one of your fish has ich then you should assume all fish have ich.
Heres a link discussing ich and how to treat.

For a hospital tank, you'll need is a filter of some sort ( sponge filter or hang on), a heater, light, a place place for the fish to seek refuge (I like the PVC Tube).

I know that running a canister filter with diatom powder (diatomaceous earth) can prevent ich in a freshwater tank. The diatom powder is usually used to polish water and can filter down to something like 1 micron and the freshwater version of ich is apparently bigger than that. Would this work on a saltwater setup too?

I was told that Garlic Guard can help boost the immune system without affecting inverts and corals. I am dealing with the same problem right now! Good luck...

I personally have had great luck with marine max which is a ich preventative product. I dose with it before adding any new livestock and have never had any problems with ich, and seems to work fairly well.

When Ich develops in your tank. You should remove the fish from the system and place the fish in a hospital tank to be treated with copper and hyposalinity. The is now a hyporesistant strain that hypo will have no effect on but the copper with eradicate both. You must keep your tank fishless for 6 weeks to let the ich to go through its natural lifecycle and die out. The ich needs a fish to host and reproduce. If no fish are present the ich will starve to death. Your tank will then be ich free. To maintain and ich free tank all new additions should be quarantined for a period of 4-6 weeks to be observed for any parasites or illness. If ich is present on them in qt then you can treat them before they bring anything into the tank. Other methods of so called cure only make the fishs immune system stronger to fight off the parasite. These treatments do not kill off the ich, they only allow the fish to fight if off easier. I can tell you this because I am going through it right now. The garlic method would only clear up the spots for a couple of days and then it would return after watching this for 3 weeks I researched and came to the conclusion of remove all fish and eradicating it totally. I did not want to chance that if a fish gets stressed out thus weaking their immune system the, ich would return and I am then back to square one. The only proven way to eradicate ich is to due the above. Other methods will not iradicate ich. With a propper QT regimen in the future the chances of ever introducing a specimen with a parasite is slim at best. My fish will all be QT from now on before ever being introduced to the display. While in QT the fish will be treated with copper and other methods such as pipzine which will iradicate any internal parasites. It is a little extra work but it the long run it will save me much frustation.
