I went to the LFS tonight
I hate it, cause I know that they will sell unsuitable fish to people that don't care.
they have an orbic batfish in... full of ich, and a whopping 3 inches long. (5 inches tall-give or take an inch)
I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT!!!
and I highly doubt that if someone buys it, its going to a good home. ugh, poor thing. at least its the only fish they have that won't do good in normal tanks: everything else is just ****sels, a maroon clownfish, and a firefish.
I wish it didn't have to DIE for the owner to see that its stupid to order a fish he can't sell, ARGH!
I only got guppies and zebras for my sons ten gallon; he can TAKE CARE of them. IF the owner was in, I'd ask him what size tank it needed... maybe walk out when he told me that it could be in a 55.

i might be wrong...but, maybe the LFS took the fish from a person that could not care for it! I mean i know some lfs that take in sick, or fish that have outgrown the home for the tank in hopes to sell it to someone that has the proper setup...maybe i am way off here but seems like this group sure bashes the lfs, and sometimes rightfully so..but lets make sure we have all the facts also. oh boy am i in trouble now

Cub foods sells Little Debbies and Camels.
The sports store sells guns.
Sorry, but anyone who purchaces pets from Wallmart, gets a shark for their 120, keeps a Dobermin in an apartment, has kids but no income....
I think you follow my logic.

for this reason alone its nice to hear so much good comming from from the club members about the new LFS. i hope they do so well that they open a store up on the north side of the cities. then it would be closer. i hate seeing fish that i know will die in any tank if you bought one. like the morish idols. i have see a few of them in the LFS in my area. and im sure the people who bought the fish didnt know there a sponge eater.

too bad its not a new lfs
and I talked to one of the employees about it-she only knew that it got big, but not HOW big. and YES he ordered it. He refuses to take saltwater fish in, only sell them.
Hes the one that takes care of the 30 breeder, with the panther grouper-sold the guy the panther grouper, and is proud of it (told me so when I started saltwater tanks!!!) AND the guy that kept an 8 inch oscar in a ten gallon tank for a year... I THINK he may have actually gotten that from someone locally, but that would be the one time.
BUT, I haven't seen a moorish idol, only some tangs that are going to be way too big for any tank that is local, and the batfish, and the grouper... it just adds up.
but, on the other hand, the other petstore is worse here... MUCH worse. and thats the one I TRIED to fix.
blah... end of rant
