I have 1 400 on my frag tub with a spider reflector and that tub is huge. Low light around the edges but you have seen it so you know.

Trodder-WHat color bulbs do you use? WHat type of corals? It just seems to like that 2 400's would be too much.

I agree, two 400 watt is just throwing money out the window and totally unnecessary. You can get great growth out of just about any coral with one good 250 watt MH on a 58 gallon, just as long as you use a bulb that has good PAR and a quality reflector.

Agreed. My neighbor just set up a 58g and has a 250W DE in a ROIII reflector. It looks real nice. Add some actinics, and you won't even notice the edges aren't getting enough light. Plus, it's not like you have corals growing all the way to the edge (usually).

Wierd! I was just thinking the same thing. I bought a RO3 250W De pendant a while back for the 29 I was going to set up. I was told thse things dont have a very good light spread. I have a new 10K Aqualine bulb and a pretty new 14K Pheonix bulb. I could use that or use 2 SE 250 in spider reflectors and try to fit in 2 36" actinics on a IC ballst.

The tank will be pretty full as I am going to move as much as I can from my 125 into it. That and I want to keep a bunch of acros at the top.
