I think I am done....
I have just about had it with my NOT reef ready tank. Overflow siphon boxes and returns are a pain in the you know what...
So..I am contemplating either tearing down my complete setup to have the **** tank drilled or tear it down and replace it with a reef ready tank.
A few questions:
- How much would a new 125 rr cost me? Where can you even get those for a decent price?
- If I were to have it drilled, how much would that cost? Should I go with two overflow boxes?
- How long would it take to drill and install the overflows and how long would I have to wait before I can put the stuff back in?
- If I would put all the LR, fish and corals in bins, would everything need powerheads etc. ? Is there such a thing as a 100+ gal tub that everything can go into during the process?
- Are there any guidelines or suggested layouts of where to put overflows, returns and / or closed loop holes ?

A new RR 125 should be around ~ $320 (I think, but I am not sure), drilling would be around ~ $40 per hole. I think silicone (overflow boxes) needs 24 hours to dry, also 24 hours for the PVC cement to dry. I would get a 150 gallon stock tank from Fleet Farm to hold all of you critters untill your tank is ready for them.

It's not really a fish tank. They are just like huge black tubs, I think farmers use them in their pull barns.

I have 3 32 gallon trash cans(that I use for salt water etc.) that you can use and extra powerheads and or heaters. I would like the stuff back in a short period of time, but time should not be a problem, heck, I have a 100 gallon acrylic tank that you could use.

What brand of tank are you thinking frogbone?
An AGA Reef-ready will be be at least $300. Non-Reef ready maybe $230...
Then there's drilling the holes yourself, versus having another party do it for you. I can't say what it costs to drill a tank yourself, I think Something's fishy charges 30-40 a hole.

Does the 125 AGA reef ready come with overflow boxes installed already?
If they do, $320 is well worth it to get a new one.
Drilling holes at $40 a pop plus overflow boxes at $80 ... I'd rather pay $100 - $150 more and gave a new (unscratched) tank and I can probably get everything together in one day, rather than hauling in the tank to get it drilled and storing all the stuff in bins and tubs for 2 days...
So, where do I go to get a new tank for that kind of money ?
