I pay you to make this for me...
I don't have the time or tools to make one of these:
http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/show...t=mini+skimmer
There are step by step instructions and designs in that thread and I need one! You can't buy anything like it anywhere either.
I will pay someone here if they can put one of these together for me ... PM please!
Or, if you already got one sittin around, let me know! Its for a 3G nano cube so it needs to be tiny tiny tiny!

seems like a lot of work for what you are trying to do. You can buy a skilter 250 on ebay for cheap and do a really easy mod on it that will make it skim much better. Total cost of the mod was like $3 plus an old air pump I had laying around. Not saying the skilter is the greatest thing since sliced bread but it does give you mechanical, chemical, and skimming abilities. My wife has it on her 5 gallon nano at work and she has been able to keep things alive with that and dosing the 2 part nano additive package they are selling now at the LFS.

If it is a 3 gallon tank why don't you just do water changes?

I'll second that notion redwinger, unless of course he is trying to set up the tank to be left alone for for longer periods of time (very tough on a small tank)

I agree with water changes. heck the skimmer would hold almost as much as the tank
but if you are really interested in having one built talk to Bob (JG24) or Scott (Spazz) both of them do acrylic work.

come on if someone buys a 3 gallon tank for $30 you really think they are going to put a $100+ skimmer on there?

Jerry - there are those that have $100 dollar tanks and the skimmers, or the combination of all the crappy ones bought to finally get a good one, cost ten times that amount!!!

Chad- yea I know that...... but why not just do water changes on a 3gallon tank vs spending more then the tank cost for a skimmer?

It takes less time to do a WC then to tinker with the skimmer on a tank that small.

Its more for aesthetics than functionality. You know, like neon lights under an 89 corola.
I would like to use the tank to teach others here how misc parts of the reef hobby work, so that means I want a skimmer, yes a mini skimmer! Many people over at nano-reef use a skimmer combined with water changes for excellent results, so to say its pointless is not true. The skimmer will remove gunk from the water, even with weekly water changes.
The plans for the one I would like is 12-14" tall and about 1" wide. Now THAT is small
