Not sure what happened Smeese......RULE #1 Things Die. I know they have them at Sea DReams...but the mortality rate is what 1 in 12 for survival? I just thought if some one had one in their tank that they were looking to get rid of I could buy that...OH WELL

I know....doesn't that suck.....they are beautiful and I want one.....they were the #1 reason I got into reef keeping. I did fortunatly read the study on them before I rushed out and bought one, but I figured I might be able to find one out there that was a couple years old.

Just the fact that they are hard to keep makes me think that if someone had one for a couple years he won't be letting it go. At least I wouldn't...

I have an elegance that I have been fragging. If you would like to get in line for a frag you would be third in line behind Tico Mike (has dibs on current frag that is doing well) and Irenicus (has dibs on next frag). I have had my elegance for about 8 months now, fragged off two nice small frags, both doing great, keeping one for a second colony and the other is going to Tico Mike. Obviously you would be able to see the frag before commiting, so you could always pass on the frag if you didn't like the way it looked. Wouldn't be fragging the elegance again for a couple more months, so you would have to be patient.

I got it from an LFS that I would rather not endorse at this time. Long story, I will explain soon, some of you may have heard some of the rumblings during the meeting last week about dealings with this pet store that have gone rather sour. Those of you that do know about what has gone on, I would appreciate it if you could hold off on spreading the bad word on this pet store, or (god forbid) even mentioning the issues at hand to the pet store managment or staff, I am still trying to possibly salvage the whole issue, even though it may make me seem gullable.
Please keep in mind, those of you that have asked to get on the list will have to be patient, I am being very cautious about fragging this colony, and I want to make sure that it heals fully before each time that I frag it. Once Mike picks up his frag he can vouch as to the health of this pretty little guy (frag expands to a little larger than a silver dollar) On a side note, I would much rather trade for exceptional looking lps, clams, equipment etc (I will let be known what I am exactly interested in at the time of the transaction) but will break down and sell the frags if the person that wants the frag does not have anything that I am interested in. Because I am not simply selling these frags to any old shmo off the street, I will only place frags with people that have tanks running that have been able to keep other lps happy and have a history on this forum, sorry if this sounds unfair, but given the magnitude of the problem of finding healthy elegances in this hobby, I have no choice but to act in a responsible manner. When I have other frags to trade/sell of this elegance I will PM the next person on the "list" and if there is not a next person on the list I will post that I have elegance frags for trade/sale on the members only forum. The spread of healthy elegances throughout our club and eventually beyond, while also aquiring interesting specimens in trade for my own personal tanks are my motivations for even trying to frag my elegance. Maybe our club can help assure the proliferation of healthy elegance corals for the future of this hobby. Sorry if I seem to have hijacked this thread, it was not my intention. Maybe someone else has a healthy elegance available right away, either way I will PM you Loralie when you are next in line and ask if you still want a frag of my elegance.

I like your approach for the conservation of the elegance coral. Put me in line. I will probably have something to trade for you by then and I'm in no rush.
