I hate it when that happens........
Second time in a week that this has happened. Last week it was when the power went out the reactor must of had a big air bubble in it when the power came back on and blew the media all over inside the reactor. Dust went flying everywhere and then went into the display. Now it happened again as I shut the reactor down but let the main pump recirculate to try and settle the dust which it did. Started to let the reactor feed back into the tank this morning and when I got home this is what I saw. Immediatelly shut the reactor down and turned the skimmer up. Cleaned all the dust out of the media as the media was like soup at the bottom of the reactor. Was running the ph in the reactor at 6.6 and am going to bump it up to try and prevent this from happening again. Oh well not the kind of pictures I like to post
One hour after the skimmer was turned up.
Getting a workout again.
2 Hours later

Dang, John.
Better than the time my regulator went into freeflow and sank my tank pH to the point where my fish were completely anesthitized. It was the craziest thing I ever saw. The fish were wedged in the rocks just swaying back and forth like they were drunk. Almost made me run out and get a pH controller.....almost.

Just from past experience I would think about using a baster or a power head and blowing everything off. I think this is about how all of my problems started, After an event like this. I think with as bad as mine was the precipitation settled on the coral tips and burned them bad enough to cause what followed.

IMO you can't go wrong with either Scott or Bob. They both make awesome skimmers. Talk to Casey, you won't hear anything different than rave reviews from me or John or Casey or anyone that I know of. They blow anything else away IMO...
