How to become a TCMAS member?

Hello all,

I just moved to Minnetonka from the Green Bay area on June 21st. I've been in the reefkeeping hobby now for almost 15 years. I don't know what I have to offer anyone except my experiences, both good and bad... but I would like to know what I need to do to become a member of TCMAS. I see that some of the forum posts are for TCMAS members only.

I'm currently in the process of setting up a new 180 gallon tank from Midwest Custom Aquariums in Buffalo. Chris really builds nice tanks. I hope to have the buildout for the tank stand completed this weekend and hopefully in place so that I can start filling with fresh RO/DI water and salt. I currently have my coral frags in a 55 on the floor of my family room. I gave up quite a few pieces... about 50% of my stock... before moving. If any of you have any frags you would be willing to part with to help me get back on my feet once I am set up, I would appreciate all that anyone is willing to give.

I would like to come to one of the TCMAS meetings so becoming a member is important to me. I actually would like to host a meeting some day, since there were no groups close to my old home town. I'm looking forward to meeting alot of you folks and I am looking forward to helping out in this forum wherever I can.

Regards,

Dale J. Sanders

Hopefully you'll be able to make it, unless you're a packer fan...there's already too many of those in the club.

The three things you never discuss amongst people you're just meeting...

1 - Politics
2 - Religion
3 - Football

I'm a big fan of the Packers, but I don't shout it to the world. I can appreciate the Vikings.

There are some nice football threads that appear during the season. Don't worry, you have some Packer backup. LOL

Disclaimer: Not me however... I'm a Vikes fan...

Thanks for the support Superman. I actually lived in Appleton, which is only 30 minutes south of Green Bay. I've got a lot of friends who are season ticket holders so I usually make it to atleast 3 or 4 games per year. I just depresses me that I had to get NFL Sunday ticket on DirecTV if I want to watch the games. See, since Green Bay ALWAYS sells out every game, there is never a blackout and I could always catch the games on TV without paying DTV over $200 bucks. Guess I have to fork it over if I want to enjoy my Sundays.

Thanks for the welcoming messages from all of you so far. I'm going to make sure that I make it to the next meeting so that I can meet some of you.

Dale

Dale it is not really necessary to buy direct T.V. You can usually see the Pack just about every week. The owners of the local tv stations recognize that even though the Vikings are the most popular in this area, the Packers are a very close second. Therefore they televise the pack if the vikings are not on the same channel or same time. Out of 16 games last season the Packers were on regular tv 11 times. And for the remaining 5 a season you can go to Gabes on the Park.

Smeese,

The thread about the 72 move isn't mine, I had only replied to the post. My original tank, the one that I moved, was a 125 AG with a custom stand. The new tank will be an acrylic 180.

The move went about as well as a reef tank move can go. However, the "move-in" day was the 20th of June. If you guys remember, that was a day that we got hit with massive storms and tornado's. We got drenched and so did all of the equipment.

I have always kept fish boxes from all of my purchases, so we were good in that department. I talked to a local welding supply company in Appleton (hometown) that was nice enough to let me use an oxygen tank and only charge me for the gas itself. I saved about $160 by not having to buy the tank and regulator. I had 2 buddies help me get everything loaded and labeled. Luckily, I had professional movers handling the rest of the house... I just had the tank to worry about.

Only 1 loss as a result of the move, my Lawnmower Blenny, "Benny" didn't make it. Not enough food in the temporary holding tank (55) to sustain him I suspect. The 3 Ocelaris clowns and all of the inverts and corals seem to be just fine. I've got all of the live rock in a Rubbermaid tub with 3 Rio 2100's and a protein skimmer until the new 180 is ready to go. Getting a bit of Cyano in the tub that I'll have to deal with tonight.

The 125 and the stand are going to be for sale soon, since I no longer have a need (or the space) for them. I'm going to start posting some pictures of the new setup process in a new thread very soon.

Regards,

Dale
