How much flow needed?

I'm thinking of bidding on some maxi jets on ebay to help out with flow in my tank.

Right now I have 3 zoo frags that look good, a green star polyp frag that isn't doing much but the rock looks nice (very purple) and a nice bunch of ric's in a 55 gal. It does have a HOB filter which only has carbon packs in it that moves the water around a little and a powerhead but no idea how powerful it is. It was a hand-me-down from a friend. Also, not sure where to put these in my tank. And, sorry, still need to get picks. Not sure how to do that and am battling hair algae. Waiting for skimmer, ordered Monday.

Oh and I'm only planning on having softies along with a few fish.

Remind me again the size tank ?

If 36" or longer, you may be better served getting some Tunze 6025 streams. Will add flow but gentle plus mounting options are better vs. the MJ. At $60 a piece not as cheap but in the end will probably be worth the extra money spent.

Just mod the Maxijets and you can get a lot of flow out of them

Holy cow, these guys made more than wholesale for USED pumps... not to mention what FedEx got.

I am going to go in a corner and cry now.

I didn't get either of those. Will keep looking. I think my tank is 36" but should probably check to be sure.

Folks, do you think Tunze 6060 would be too much for Blen's 55 Gs? If not, you might as well get a Tunze, Blen.

tunze is very nice...Just alot of $$$$....I decided to go with all seio since they are 1/2 the price or less. I have 6 seios in my set up...including my frag tank..

I know it can get a little pricey, tunze is. I used to have 6 maxi-jets before i switched to a larger tank. 6 powerheads works just fine. Upgrade later on when you get a chance.

Thanks much for all your input. I'm still looking. Holidays are interrupting my agenda.
