HFG Auto shut-off valve

HFG here's a line drawing for you of your auto shut off valve. Your float valve does have to shut off for this to work.

Fahz, If I host the second December meeting, do you want to do a "Demo" of an auto top-off hook-up using a kalk reactor? I think I could fit a fair number of people in my basement, once the 125 tank and stand are out of the way...

You could also use a sensor switch in place of a float valve. But you posed an interesting question so I had to go down and try it on my system. I have an auto shut-off but never used it. The system will shut off once it fills all of the housings and pressurizes your system with a float valve. When the auto shut-off activates it shuts off the feed and waste water flow.

Now it is not a good system for auto top off unless you have the up most faith in your float valve. Part of the failure problem with float valves is when they are poorly secured so they tilt or flip and do not shut off the water. My system makes about 28 gallons over a 10 hour period so I run it over night and manually turn it off in the morning.

Mike a little out of my field but I would be happy to do something on RO/DI as there seems to be a lot of questions about water purity and production. The Twin Cities tap water has high iron content and some people with well water have problems with high sediment load.

I run a calcium reactor and no auto top off other then a 10 gallon aquarium drilled at the bottom dripping plain DI water.

I use a float valve on a 15 gallon barrel for my DI water and I have never had any problem. I do make my water in my utility room with a floor drain so I am not overly concerned if something would happen but in the tow years I have done this it has worked with no problems.I just used the float valves from USPlastic that you can adjust and they work great. I also use these for Kalk top off but you have to take them out on a regular basis and clean them up.
