Hey where is everyone at the frag swap?

I saw Mr. DIRKS and thats it!

There is only a few swappers and my guess is they are totally sold out already, and I really did not pay attention to the HW booths. The FS set up 2 4x2' tanks and have AMAZING corals and clams for sale. If only SF and WoF carried this kind of stuff!

No pics. Today we had the tour of the aqua facility and the warehouse. They both blew my mind. There are 2 large display tanks (120s or perhaps they were 90s) where they keep the mother colonies. This is where they get the pictures for their regular online corals. These two tanks were beyond anything I have even imagined in my saltiest dreams.

The coral facility itself is an inspiration.

They really did a great job with the first annual coral swap. I sure as heck hope they do this every year. Its a great location for us at ~ 4hour drive!

couple of quick notes (Edited for clarity).

The fella from Ice cap was really into the t5 thing and the new energy efficient MH systemss.
The, "T-5 aren’t intense enough for clams or SPS."-thing is BS. T5s with the right reflectors , have a load of PAR.
T-5s do not loose intensity or spectrum over time.
Overdriven MH WILL change spectrum and loose their life span.
He places the life of a MH on the correct ballast ~18months NOT the normal 8-12 months most people are changing them at.
He advocated going with less power MH bulbs and moving them closer to the tank when possible.

DR Fosters and smith will be caring the same light rails they use in their aquaculture facility. These things rock. You can do 2 bulbs instead of 4 or 6 over the same tank. You don't get hot spots, and, um, can you say electric savings?

I thought it was interesting in the coral farm that they chose to put the softie Qtank with all T5 atinics. They do move them under MH in the grow out tanks though.

OK that’s enough teasers for you lazy bums... I'm going to look at my new corals now, again.

When did the The IceCap gentleman say that T5 lighting is not intense enough for SPS and Clams, or am I reading your post wrong? If he did say that I must have completely missed it.
