hawkfish


antone keep them in a reef, i had one a while back and it ate my cleaner and fire/blood shrimp. anyone know if they will do this all the time or was it just a bad hawk. i love how they act in the tank, just dont want to lose my shirmp that i will get

I have one in a reef housed with 3 pepermint shrimp, and have had no problems.

Depending on the type of hawkfish you get, you could have problems. By nature most of them eat small fish and crustaceans(your shrimp for example).

We have an Arc-Eye hawkfish. Although it is a favorite of mine, it is one of the more aggressive predators of the species. He enjoys our tasty hermit crabs.

Below is a pic of the Arc-Eye type. (This is not a pic of our fish....but it does look just like him)

my long nose eats shrimp and gobies. extremely cool fish other than that, very personable . always seems to care what you are doing.
