Lots of flow to keep the detrius suspended!
I like to add a few nacarrius snails to watch em surf around on the bottom for detrius but idealy they do like a sand bed so only get a few if ya do.
grow zoas or other matting polyps on the bottom by just gluing them down or weight them down there till they take hold

It's all just personal preference whether or not to use a faux sandbed look or not. Certainly easier and cheaper not to, I never did and doubt I would ever put something down just go true barebottom.

I have plenty of that, between the barracuda, and the seio's. Thanks for the advise guys, seeing as how I really do not want to put anymore money into the setup, I am going to just do the true bare bottom then, I just wasn't sure if there was some kind of advantage to using the acrylic for the bottom.

There are no advantages to a faux sandbed / cutting board. It's all for aethetic reasons.
Probably if anything there are only cons to not be true barebottom since anything not as smooth as the glass will likely trap some and if not 100% flush some detritus will be underneath too....
You will be just amazed how much detritus there is even in just 1 weeks time that otherwised was going unnoticed. It's a true eye opener.....
