Get Well Soon Derek!

It almost wasn't a meeting without Derek showing up late. In fact when the intros began I wasn't at all surprised to not see ya D. Thanks to Greg and Thomas for passing along word of the appendectomy. Ya didn't need that thing anyways! You're in our thoughts and prayers D! Heal up quick! ( or Greg's gonna win the great race )

PS-I was excited to tell you-I got the interview!

We hope that you recover soon Derek. Being sick does put a crimp in your style, doesn't it?

Thanks for the kind words. I'm still in the hospital, just snuck down and found a computer to check TRT and email. hehe

Fortunately I didn't wait until the last minute (typically people will let denial get the best of them for a real long time), so they got it out before it got too infected or burst. Last night wasn't so much fun, but I'm feeling better today, and will probably go home tomorrow.

Rich--congratualtions, hope things go well.

Clyde--it'll cost ya a nickel

Ernie & Jo--it was definitely weird to be on the other side, so to speak, especially because I know what goes on. That said, everyone was and has been wonderful, and they're taking great care of me.

I'll have to hit some of you up for work on the tank, since I won't be able to lift more that ten pounds for the next 4-6wks.

Again, thanks for the kind words, you guys are a great group of people that I'm glad I've gotten to know.

Derek

get well

Hi,

Sorry about the quick op. Any surgery can't be fun. Haven't met you yet but appreciated the help you gave me finding out about the meeting at Dave G's house. It was really cool to see how big of a turnout there ended up being. Anyway, hope you get well and looking forward to seeing this tank everyone's talking about.....

Derek,

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Surgery is not fun for any reason!

I'm sure you know that not lifting over 10 lbs really MEANS not lifting over 10 lbs right? In my experience most guys have a very hard time following instructions that limit what they can do, until they try and lay on floor howling for a bit. Don't over do.

That is so good to hear that they took it out before it burst. You saved yourself alot of pain and days in the hospital. My cousin wasn't so smart and his burst but he is totally fine. I think you are going to win the race because everyone else WILL do the work and get it running. So I guess you could call that a silver lining to this unfortunate experience. Did you put it in a masonry jar to keep? JK We really hope you get better quickly, at least you can direct us while you rest on the couch. Just be sure to order more of that pizza OMG that was the best pizza I have had in a really long time. Hope to see you soon(at home resting) and listen to the doctors and Sue, do not lift more than 10lbs. Ben can lift it for you.

Actually, that sounds like a good plan!! I think we need to organize a pizza/tank completion party for Derek, whether he likes it or not!! To get that tank together is definately a chore but if we get a few helping hands in, I think we can have it ready to start filling in an afternoon... I can bring my little guy with so Ben has a playmate!! Derek all you have to do is pick a date (maybe a saturday morning/afternoon) and purchase a megaphone to relay your orders from the couch

also in regards to saving the removed item... maybe you could have the doc slice it up for ya and put it in a little baggy and use it for fish food...
