Fresh water fish that will lay eggs

Anyone know of a fresh water fish that will lay eggs like there's no tomorrow.

I'm trying to fatten up my pair of Percula Clowns. The pair I have are very pickie eaters, they won't eat my prepared fish mush. They both just takes a sniff and swims away, even when it hits them in the mouth. Other fish in the tank love the fish mush.

I was thinking of getting a couple pairs of fresh water fish that will lay eggs like crazy and try feeding the clown these eggs. Eggs should be more nutritional then anything I can buy off the shelf.

Is this a good idea?

Thanks for any input.

if flying fish roe is too costly id try capelin roe "masago" i bet you could get this at coastal seafoods or lunds . may have to order it .

have you tried mysis shimp , maybe with a bit of garlic ? could also try adding some cyclop eeze at feeding time to excite them ?

I'm not sure, but I'm thinking that feeding FW Fish Eggs fall under the same "law" as not feeding saltwater fish freshwater feeders for risk of unhealthy buildup of bad fats on the fish's liver/etc whick will lead to a premature death.

How long have you had these fish. When I first got my maroon/gold stripe clown he wouldn't eat anything for a while. Now he's a pig and eats anything I put in the tank...

Convict Cichlids lay a lot of eggs and they are cheap. I think they lay eggs about every 30-45 days.
