Frag Tank Advice.

I want to set up a frag tank to propegate zoos and softies. I am thinking that live rock would just get in my way. Can I use a wet/dry filter with bio media instead of live rock for filtration. Will this work for corals.

I was thinking of building some racks with pvc and eggcrate and barebottom.

Any suggestions?

Why not use live rock in your sump? Or plumb it to your main display?

Going to be too far to plumb to the main tank. Live rock is expensive compared to bio media. There will be no fish in this tank either. Not hardly any bio load. Will only be zoos and maybe a couple of softie frags from time to time. I built a frag rack in my display tank that hangs from the back of the tank and sits about 10" below the water that's loaded up with frags now. Working good, but I need more frag space and it also makes my diaplay tank look pretty ghetto...

If your not feeding the frag tank them you should only need a skimmer and do water changes, if you do frequent water changes you wouldn't even need a skimmer.
