Anyone know of some good fish stores in Minneapolis that sell a good amount of coral and have live rock? Ive been to World of Fish and Something Fishy but havent checked out any other places. Is there any other good stores out there?
thanks

I am always surprised at the lack of nice corals at either of those two fish stores. All of my corals except one have come from Jerry's or from trades at meetings...

I was at SF today and they had three very nice pieces I would have bought, but they were all about $15 too high. They have to deal with high overhead though so they probably make the same profit. Jerry can get you something you have on a wish list as well, plus you can probably trust almost any advice he gives you. My pet peeve is seeing Goniopora corals in a store and I saw several today. I think it's very irresponsible to sell or carry a "waiting to die" coral. Some say they have luck with them but it still doesn't justify it.

This is a pretty good article about Goniopora.

Since we are mentioning SF, anyone local bought 1 of those huge rose bubble tip anemonees from SF. They had 17 when I saw them 2-3 months ago. Was just at SF with money in hand to get one of the bigger ones 3 weeks ago and they were all gone except 2 small ones.
Just wondering.

When I was at SF a while back they had a couple of pieces of SPS that looked nice (bottom of the display tank in back). I think it was around $100 a pop though.
Not that I really have any coral buying experience, but it seems Jerry & trades/buys from club members is the way to go. I think Dirk (from Red Wing) mentioned he had some stuff as well, but I don't know what.

Nice link Jeremiah-
Interstingly, I've had a goniopora for almost 18 months now, and it is growing. I believe it is the Goniopora cf. tenuidens. I would never have purchased it myself, but it was a gift. Seems to be healthy, with great polyp extension (knock on wood).
bbkid-
Talk to Jerry (JnS). He'll hook you up... you get a better coral for cheaper, and keep the little guy in business.
